NY Brew Company turns on the taps in Fortitude Valley

American-style beer and New York-inspired street nosh have found a new home at the NY Brew Company in Brunswick Street Mall.

Perfectly timed to appease Brisbane’s current obsession with American street food, NY Brew Company blends the best of the USA with the best of Germany, resulting in one drool-worthy hybrid. The new venue has taken up residence in one of the city’s oldest buildings, spilling out from the TCB Building onto the Brunswick Street Mall. Three former takeaway joints have been replaced by the new bar, with Subway transforming into the venue’s kitchen, New York Slice into a private lounge area, and a sushi restaurant into the main bar.

Owner Todd McGregor says it was his time spent working in Germany and America that influenced the bar’s concept, which sees American-style craft beer served alongside pretzel-based nosh. Open for lunch and dinner seven days, the venue offers up a range of filling combinations stuffed inside specialty pretzel rolls and buns, such as the signature Burger Dog, featuring a ground beef patty with roasted onions, tomato, mustard, aioli and provolone. New York-style pizzas round out the menu, as well as sides like the house ’slaw with ranch dressing, cider-battered onion rings and beer-battered fries, and desserts like New York cheesecake sandwiches and rocky road pizza. Authentic American brews like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale are joined on the taps by American-style beers sourced from local favourites, such as the Green Beacon Wayfarer USA and Holgate Road Trip American IPA. Non-beer drinkers can enjoy sauvignon blanc and rosato on tap, as well as modern takes on classic New York cocktails.
