New food hall Metropole Bar Eatery caters to all of your food cravings

You’re sitting at your desk, your stomach is grumbling. You know you want to eat, but you have no idea what you want to eat. Rather than roaming the streets of Brisbane aimlessly looking for something to pique your interest, make your way to The City’s newest food hall Metropole Bar Eatery.

Metropole Bar Eatery is the latest (and largest) project from Bellezza Group, the clever cats behind Bar Pacino, Chocolate Soldier, Espresso Veloce and more. Housed inside the new 180 Brisbane building on Ann Street, Metropole brings casual-style dining to an impressive open space, which features a mix of world cuisines, as well as an espresso bar, cocktail bar and covered laneway bar. If you’re imagining a food court, think again. Sure, you can get your lunch packaged up to take away, but you can also dine in the laneway or dining hall from a real plate with real cutlery – you can even grab a beer or glass of wine to sip with your meal.

No matter what you’re craving, chances are you’ll find it at Metropole. The service area is divided into two sides – Eastern and Western cuisines. On the Eastern side you’ll find all of your Asian favourites, drawing on Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian and Thai dishes. Select from fresh sushi and rice paper rolls, made-to-order banh mi, and a smorgasbord of woks filled with everything from Shanghai steak stir-fry and massaman beef curry, to guilty pleasures like sweet-and-sour pork and honey chicken. On the Western side you’ll find salads, grab-and-go wraps, paninis and focaccias, hot pastries and made-to-order sandwiches. There’s also a carvery – and we’re not talking your greasy pork-crackling-in-a-paper-cup situation, this is legit. Think whole legs of ham, grilled salmon, beef ragu, roast vegetables, handmade giant arancini, lasagne and more. For drinks, the inside bar offers top-shelf spirits, beer, wine and cocktails, while outside in the laneway (which connects Ann and Turbot Streets) you can choose from a more condensed selection of beers and wines. Freaking out because we haven’t mentioned coffee yet? Don’t worry, its just a short escalator ride away, upstairs at Espresso Emporium.

For opening hours and contact details head to our Stumble Guide. Keep an eye on The Weekend Edition in the coming months – Bellezza Group already has its next project Santa Monica in the works just up the street, which is set to open in August. The space will be home to a burger and pizza bar, an outdoor beer and coffee cart, and (hopefully!) a rooftop bar as well. Stay tuned!

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
