Fireside heats up Dine BNE City with another year of decadent eats and delicious cocktails

After unveiling its program last week, Dine BNE City has marked its return to the Brisbane culinary calendar with a bang. This year, the 30 delectable days of foodie festivities are led by the return of Fireside on May 31. The grounds of St. Stephen’s Cathedral will once again transform into Brisbane’s dining event of the year. Dine your way through the delicious line-up of dishes brought to you by The City’s leading eateries – as well as exclusive cocktail creations and live music. Here’s what’s in store …

St. Stephen’s Cathedral is a crown jewel of The City’s heritage architecture, gracing Elizabeth Street with its sandstone-gothic look for nearly 175 years. On Friday May 31, this gem of Brisbane history will join forces with The City’s modern institutions for Fireside, including the likes of Babylon, Settimo, Donna Chang, Walter’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar, and The Gresham Bar. The bustling feast will welcome winter with pop-up restaurants and bars, as well as music by local musicians and DJs.

On the menu, you’ll find an array of exclusive dishes to sample and savour. Middle-Eastern eatery Babylon is firing up a shish tawook of chicken with aromatic kisir, tomato and yoghurt, as well as warming bowls of ali nazik – a Turkish stew of lamb and pistachio kebab, smoked eggplant, labneh and sumac onions.

Let the fire’s warmth transport you to Sicily with Settimo’s menu of Italian delicacies, such as gnocchi alla Sorrentina – clouds of gnocchi with tomato and buffalo mozzarella. Pair this moreish morsel with Settimo’s golden pizze fritte, stuffed with tomato, spinach and provolone. Donna Chang’s street food offshoot will be plating up its elevated Cantonese and Sichuan fare, including its famous scallop and prawn wontons, doused in black vinegar and chilli, and its crispy cumin-spiced lamb buns.

Legacy watering hole The Gresham Bar will be quenching your thirst all evening long with a menu of custom cocktails and drinks from its master mixologists, while Walter’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar takes care of dessert. The New York-inspired restaurant will be serving an indulgent selection of desserts, including key lime, pecan, chocolate and salted-caramel pie as well as NY cheesecake. Unwind fireside for an evening of gourmet bites and live music from the heart of the city with this unparalleled dining experience.

The Fireside event has sold out but Dine BNE City’s full program is online now for you to digest at your leisure – head to the website and start dreaming of your June dining plans.

The Weekend Edition is excited to be an official supporting partner of Dine BNE City, produced by our friends at The City.
