If learning to become a circus performer is in your 2023 bingo card, then allow us to introduce Circa Academy. From January, the limber and nimble acrobats that make up Circa will be showing us normies how to tumble and trapeze like a pro. Spanning from early childhood play to pre-professional development, Circa Academy programs build physical and creative skills in a safe environment with some of Australia’s best trainers. Most classes will take place at the Judith Wright Arts Centre, though some will be at Brisbane Powerhouse.

Circa Academy will offer four Aerial Nights each week for adults, with courses from beginner to advanced across silks, trapeze, straps and lyra. On the weekend, little ones can have their go at Youth Circus classes, while little-little ones aged 18 months to 4 years can attend Storytime classes, which unite storytelling and circus adventure with creative physical play. How cute! Those looking to fully immerse themselves in the circus life can attend Circa Academy’s flagship program, Performance, which is an elite stream dedicated to excellence in circus training, creation and performance. Performance ensembles create and present live works across Brisbane and beyond, and participants get to experience circus festivals, training projects and much more.
