Suzie Wong’s Good Time Bar

In early 2020, famed cocktail joint The Bowery closed after 17 years of trade. The space wasn’t vacant for long, however. Come February the venue transformed into Suzie Wong’s Good Time Bar – a live music-oriented bar from the Drunken Monkey Group, the crew known for their lively inner-city haunts Brooklyn Standard and Fat Angel Sports Bar & Grill. After a two-week refit, the bar transformed into a Hawaiian-inspired dive bar with a focus on live music. The interior boasts a whole new look – almost every available inch of wall space is covered with vintage paraphernalia, including everything from surfboards and old-school American adverts to neon booze signs and even a giant swordfish. The bar gleams with back-lit bottles, and beyond sits a small chill-out zone equipped with leather banquettes, retro wallpaper and lights that shift in hue. The bar is stocked with beer from the States and Australia, a curated selection of wines by the glass and bottle, plus a collection of signature cocktails that’ll have you ready for a boogie in no time. Five nights a week, you’ll find a band on stage getting the party started. Much like Brooklyn Standard, the stage at Suzie Wong’s will host bands performing a wide spread of musical genres (think rock’n’roll, blues, funk and more).
