It seems like Adam Barton and Manny Sakellarakis have plans to convert Brisbane City’s Eagle Lane into a little slice of New York City. Their latest project is a dedicated American sports bar, Fat Angel, neighbouring the pair’s dive bar Brooklyn Standard. Fat Angel has truly owned the sports bar vibe – the walls are covered in American sports paraphernalia and neon beer advertising, plus eight screens are scattered around the venue, four of which make up a giant 3-m video wall, showing basically whatever sport the bar can get its hands on – think NBA, NFL, baseball, UFC, boxing, English Premier League football, NRL, AFL, rugby union, motocross and more. Coors, Sam Adams, Blue Moon and Fat Angel’s own house lager are all on tap, alongside a classic sports-bar menu – think buffalo wings, cheeseburgers, popcorn shrimp, Philly cheesesteaks and burgers.
