Kevin is a charming cafe that is serving sensational brunch fare and specialty coffee. Owned and operated by hospitality veterans Sam Holman (BlackoutIf You Say So) and Yolanda van Houtte (Drip), Kevin occupies a character-filled workers cottage on Brunswick Street, which has been lovingly restored to boast a farmhouse-inspired aesthetic (solid timber floorboards, VJ panels, sea-green tiled coffee counter, olive-hued banquettes and rattan shelving). The team are using produce sourced from its own farm to craft brunch dishes elevated with some fine-dining techniques. The avocado toast (with zucchini, yuzu, goats cheese and seven-spice pepitas), the ‘nduja scramble (soft herbs, smoked yoghurt and biang biang sauce) and the summer chai semolina porridge (blood plums, elderflower, coconut crumbs and lemon honey) are stand-outs. There is also a build-your-own brunch offering for those that can’t go past a classic. On the coffee front, espresso pours are available alongside cold drip, batch brew and a rotating list of frozen single origins, plus freshly squeezed juices and specialty smoothies. Kevin is open every day of the year.
