The round-up: where to treat yo’self to some truffles

While we’re shivering our way through the chilly season, the silver lining is that winter means truffles! If you’re keen to get your hands on some ‘black gold’, we’ve round-up some of the coast’s top-notch feasts to get yo’ truffle on.

allure on currumbin: Offering a classic French menu, allure on currumbin is luring truffle lovers with amazingly fresh oysters gratinated with truffle, garlic and chive butter and a winter warming main of slow-roasted pork belly with pink apple slaw on truffled mash. Mmm truffle mash.

Brooklyn Depot: Proving that truffles aren’t reserved exclusively for posh nosh, Brooklyn Depot is slathering its Wisenheimer and Fugazy burgers with deliciously rich truffle mayonnaise. Order a side of mac ‘n’ cheese with truffle flavour, because everything is better with truffle flavour.

Cafe Catalina: If you like your truffles with a view, pull up a seat at Cafe Catalina overlooking the beautiful Broadwater and indulge in a plate (or more) of devilishly crispy arancini balls bursting with truffled swiss brown mushrooms and aged parmesan. Yum!

Cucina Vivo: For the entire month of July, diners can indulge in the heavenly taste of Australian-grown truffles with a Truffletini cocktail or go all out with a plate of truffle gnocchi with wild mushrooms and tea-smoked duck breast, roasted beef tenderloin with foie gras butter and truffle jus, or seared scallops on creamed leek with lobster bisque and fresh truffle.

Gemelli Italian: Having recently hosted Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston, this Broadbeach restaurant has been the talk of the town and whilst we can’t be certain, we’re pretty sure they were there for the truffle oil-infused arancini. Or perhaps it was the perfectly cheesy fior di latte pizza with marinated field and porcini mushrooms, thyme and drizzled with truffle oil.

Kiyomi: Transport your tastebuds to truffle heaven with a plate of Queensland spanner crab topped with fresh, shaved Western Australian black truffles and Wagyu toban with sliced truffle, Asian mushrooms and baby corn. The dishes are only available for the month of July so you might want to put some haste into booking.

little truffle dining room & bar: As you might deduct from the name, little truffle dining room & bar in Mermaid Beach is all about the truffle with a mouthwatering porcini mushroom risotto, pan fried quail breasts, jus de provence and shaved winter truffle. You can also have freshly shaved truffle added to any dish for just $10.

Moo Moo The Wine Bar + Grill: If it’s truffles you seek, look no further than Moo Moo’s risotto of aged carnaroli with black pepper and freshly grated black winter truffle. To serve, the chef shaves the truffles straight on to the hot risotto and finishes with freshly grated truffle pecorino, micro purple basil and a touch of extra virgin olive oil.

Paradox Coffee Roasters: Get your day off to a great start the Bit Posh bagel loaded with Tasmanian smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and finished with truffle and fresh chives, because life’s too short not to have truffle for breakfast.

Ristorante Fellini: Featuring a menu befitting of such a magnificent view, Ristorante Fellini offers a beautifully rich veal tenderloin rolled with sauteed fresh mushrooms, wrapped in pancetta, oven roasted and served with wilted spinach, reduced jus and a luscious truffle-infused cream.

Sparrow Eating House: After a short hiatus, the cold rare beef fillet with whipped horseradish butter infused with white truffle oil is back on the menu at Sparrow Eating House! If you’ve not yet had the pleasure, do yourself a favour. It’s pretty much the best thing ever.

The Fish House: Known for unbelievably fresh seafood, The Fish House’s head chef Kelvin Andrews is embracing the distinguished delicacy with two amazing truffle dishes including swordfish with fois gras and grated truffle and braised kingfish with truffle. Both dishes will be available from Friday July 15 for a very limited time only.
