Take the hassle out of this year’s festive feast with The Star’s Christmas hampers

December 25 is coming up reeeeeaaaal quick and we’re already starting to dread how much we have to plan ahead for Christmas. There’s meal planning, shopping, prepping and of course, the eventual execution (aka sweating it out in the hot kitchen). If you’re not keen on eating out but are fretting at the thought of this year’s Yuletide meal at home, why not take the stress out of the occasion with a Christmas hamper from The Star? Stocked with a bounty of festive goodies and requiring minimal effort on your behalf, it is the perfect way to take the pressure out of Christmas feasting. Here are all of the delicious details …

As much as we love eating out, there is something about finishing your plate on Christmas day and rolling immediately onto the couch for a nap that is hard to beat. With The Star’s Christmas hampers, you can eat like a king from the comfort of your home and finish the meal in prime position for an afternoon swim or snooze. There are a couple of options this year, the first being the Classic Hamper (with options for two or six guests). This jam-packed bundle includes honey-glazed smoked ham, roasted turkey breast with butter and thyme, hot smoked Tasmanian salmon, baked cauliflower, roasted chat potatoes with duck fat, a medley of root vegetables and steamed green beans, plus a rich gravy to top it all off. From there, give your dessert stomach a run for its money with sweets like the Buche De Noel, Kirsch liqueur and pistachio macarons, and tropical fruits. Level up your festive feast with the Enhanced Hamper, which offers all of above, plus seared beef sirloin marinated with olive oil, herbs and spices for the main and a ‘make your own pavlova’ with pre-cut berries and cream added to the dessert menu.

It wouldn’t be an Australian Christmas without seafood, so both hampers can be upgraded to include fresh Sydney rock oysters, wild eastern king prawns, cocktail sauce, mignonette dressing and lemon wedges. The seafood upgrade is $80 for two serves or $250 for six. If you like to make friends with salad, why not consider the salad upgrade? For $80, you can enjoy roasted baby carrot salad with Persian feta, toasted walnut and creamy mustard-seed dressing, a Christmas salad with baked beetroot, radicchio, radish, blue cheese and pomegranate dressing and a fresh garden salad with cucumber, gourmet tomato, capsicum, salad onion, mesclun and balsamic dressing. This year, there are also a bunch of exclusive beverage add-ons with tipples like Moet NV & Veuve NV, Talking Point Shiraz Cabernet, Penfolds ‘Bin 28’ Shiraz and much more in the mix.

The Star’s Christmas hampers can be pre-ordered online until 2:00 pm on Friday December 15, with the Classic Hamper for two priced at $260, while the hamper for six guests is $600. If you can’t beat a Christmas pavlova, ensure you nab the Enhanced Hamper that feeds up to six guests for $700.
