The Lazy Goose pioneers relaxed fine dining

Destined to reinvigorate the underutilised outside corner of the Oracle in Broadbeach, The Lazy Goose is pioneering a kind of relaxed fine dining that is perfectly suited to the Broadbeach lifestyle.

If you’re put off by the general pomp of fine dining restaurants but happen to enjoy treating your tastebuds to truly excellent cuisine, The Lazy Goose is definitely one to try. Sophisticated yet relaxed, the venue is envisaged as a place you can lounge around wining and dining until your heart’s content instead of being shuffled out as soon as you’ve finished the last bite of dessert. The stunning restaurant is the latest venture from Sam and Estrella Choujaa, who have spent the past few years involved in restaurants in Dubai, and have spared no expense on the lavish fit-out with elegant table settings adorned with black linens, plush high-back chairs and moody lighting creating an inviting and seductive atmosphere.

The menu, created by head chef Miki Damjanovic, formerly of Social Eating House + BarJellyfish Restaurant in Brisbane, Waterfront Southgate in Melbourne and Shannon Bennett’s Vue de monde, is equally as seductive and represents dishes that have resonated with him in his 15-years as a chef. Rather than being limited to one particular kind of cuisine, the menu features a selection of modern Australian snacks, small plates and larger plates. The venue’s specialty lobster roll with fennel, charred avocado mousse and watercress is definitely a must for seafood lovers, as are the king prawns with garlic, chilli, heirloom tomatoes, quinoa, fennel and layers of streaky jamon. For more substantial hungers, the hefty 1.5 kilogram slow-roasted veal leg with za’atar, bulgur, pine nuts and green olive tabouleh is guaranteed to fill the void. Even if you get a little carried away with dinner, don’t even think about skipping dessert, the jasmine tea mousse with freeze–dried apple and mandarine delivers a zesty flavour explosion that will bring your meal to a spectacular conclusion.
