The 4217 opens its doors in Surfers Paradise

The former Surfers Paradise Transit Centre has been transformed into an urban micro-village that houses artisan coffee roasters alongside curators and creative folk and is aptly named The 4217 after the suburb in which it resides.

The pleasing aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts from every entryway luring you inside. Once you step foot through the doors, the source of the scent becomes abundantly apparent as a five-metre tall fire-engine-red Italian coffee roaster appears before you. The goliath is responsible for roasting the beans for the neighbouring Paradox Coffee Roasters where the beans are ground and served within one week to ensure the coffee is consistently fresh. Alongside artisan coffee, the restaurant offers a daily menu of breakfast dishes and light lunches as well as hearty mains including the slow-roasted Lamb shoulder salad with crunchy root vegetables, mint and smashed pomegranate. Next door, Brooklyn Depot is creating some mouth-watering marvels by way of gourmet burgers and hotdogs. Quench your thirst with a craft beer or one of Brooklyn Depot’s specialty cocktails or for a bite on the run, slightly further down the corridor, My Sushi Rolls offers a delicious array of authentic sushi that is made fresh onsite daily.

While you’re there, spend time browsing Beautiful Spaces Inside and Out’s range of interesting and unique homewares and mosey on across to the pop-up art gallery that is currently curated by East Editions. East Editions produce limited edition artist creations that are available for purchase. At The 4217, there is a real emphasis on supporting local makers and doers. The crockery at Paradox Coffee Roasters, for example, is handmade by Marloe Morgan Ceramics and almost every facade is a canvas for local and international commissioned art works including Beastman & Jae Copp, Fuzeillear, Numskull, Vans The Omega and Treazy, to name a few. OzHarvest has also based its Gold Coast headquarters on the mezzanine level and is neighboured by local creative studio Oven Creative and SNAP Fitness. The 4217 will welcome CHA Tea Providores and a new artisan baker to the mix in coming weeks. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
