If you don’t know your yuzu from your yakitori, Japanese cuisine can be a bit of a challenge. Relieve yourself of ordering duties with the new degustation menu at Kiyomi.

Translated to mean ‘I’ll leave it with you’, the new Omakase seven-course feast has been created by Kiyomi’s lauded executive chef, Chase Kojima, to provide a well-rounded Japanese dining experience. Prepare your palate for the spread it is about to receive by sipping on some cherry rose tea. The feast begins with Hiramasa kingfish with miso ceviche and crispy potato, a refreshing take on fish and chips before moving on to the Tasmanian ocean trout with pickled wasabi and smoked yuzu soy. The trout dish is paired with a refreshing 2014 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. Next up is Chase’s signature dish, the crispy rice and spicy tuna, which is paired with Tengumai Junmai Daiginjo 50 served at room temperature. Bring your Japanese feast to a magnificent conclusion with Moreton Bay bug, king brown mushroom and chicken with yuzu honey. Round out your culinary adventure with the chef’s selection dessert platter and a delightful Yoshinogawa Gensen Uumeshu (sake cocktail).

The Omakase degustation menu for two is $140 per person including drinks, or $75 without. There are two sittings are available at 5.30–8.00 pm or 8.30 pm to close. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
