Fufu House Japanese Bar brings Asian fusion to Southport

Contrary to its name, Fufu House Japanese Bar isn’t just a bar, nor is it exclusively Japanese, it’s a hybrid between Chinese and Japanese and they serve food as well as drinks. The restaurant is the latest to open on Southport’s main thoroughfare, Scarborough Street.

Grilling up skewers of tender, juicy chicken smothered in special homemade soy sauce to order, Fufu House Japanese Bar caters to western tastes as well as those who appreciate some more authentic Asian culinary creations including grilled quail eggs and broiled tilapia fish. The bilingual menu also offers an impressive range of bento boxes and hot pots including the spicy Thai Tom Yum pot and Japanese curry pot for the daring. If the heat proves to be a little much, Fufu House offers a selection of Chinese and Taiwanese Beer or house white wine that is incredibly just $2.20! Or go all out and partake in a Taiwanese plum wine for $4.50 per cup. Fufu House Japanese Bar is about as close as you’ll get to authentic Asian cuisine falling just short of jumping on a plane and experiencing it for yourself.

The restaurant is the second venue for Asia Wu who also owns the popular 7-8 Cafe, which has been dishing up her signature Asian fusion to Sunnybank locals for over a decade. Asia’s formula for well-priced authentic food (and wine) in a relaxed environment is guaranteed to create a line around the block. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
