An icon reimagined – the Burleigh Town Hotel reopens after $4.5-million makeover
It’s been the old-faithful watering hole off Tsipura Drive in Burleigh Heads (say Tsipura backwards, we dare you) but since May, locals have been without their local as it commenced a mammoth $4.5-million makeover. Friends, the time has come to get your first glimpse of the brand-new Burleigh Town Hotel (formerly known as the Burleigh Town Tavern). The transformation has seen the iconic Queensland sip spot transformed into a family-friendly destination, with a new beer garden, bistro and sports bar. The iconic venue opened its doors on Thursday November 10 giving thirsty locals a peek at the impressive new facilities. Here’s what you can expect from the new (old) tipple temple.
As we hurtle towards summer at breakneck speed, suddenly our penchant for kicking back with a cold beverage in hand and listening to some live tunes increases exponentially. Lucky for us, the Burleigh Town Hotel’s new expansive beer garden has opened just in time and boasts the perfect space for all ages. Bring the kids along, as they will be entertained for hours in the adjoining playground, which means parents can relish some rare moments of peace without constant (and repeated) requests for snacks. Sports fans, you’re in for a treat as the new state-of-the-art Sports Bar features a giant 11-metre mega screen, making it one of the largest in Southeast Queensland. No matter where you are seated, you will catch all of the action on the suspended cylinder screen, which ensures perfect viewing from any angle. Music lovers – don’t fret, the Burleigh Town Hotel team has not forgotten about you, with the addition of a large stage in the new entertainment zone, which will be home to a variety of live music performances.
Now for the best part – the eats! Burleigh Town Hotel’s new modern bistro is putting a contemporary spin on all of your favourite classic Australian pub fare. We’re talking crispy schnitzels, melt-in-your-mouth steaks and tasty burgers, as well as a selection of piping hot pizzas straight from the woodfired oven and baked to perfection using hand-stretched dough. Those glued to all of the action in the Sports Bar needn’t surrender their seat to eat – there’s a dedicated bar menu featuring nostalgic nods to the classic Australian barbecue – think snags in bread, sausage rolls, rissoles and more. The multi-million dollar revamp of the Burleigh Town Hotel continues Australian Venue Co’s sizeable investment into the Queensland pub landscape, which also includes Coomera Lodge Hotel and The Wallaby Hotel in Mudgeeraba.
To celebrate the re-opening Burleigh Town Hotel is hosting a weekend of events starting with a welcome day on Friday November 25, followed by a Sports Fans Dream Day on Saturday November 26 and a family fun day on Sunday November 27. Skip over to our Stumble Guide for opening times.
