Burleigh Brewing Co. unveils brand new brewery

When their existing brewery on Ern Harley Drive began bursting at the seams, Peta and Brennan Fielding began working on plans for Burleigh Brewing Co. 2.0. Now, almost a year later, the wraps are off their brand new facility a couple of hundred metres up the road.

Rows of colossal steel tanks line the brewery floor offering a visual cue to the sheer grandeur of the new Burleigh Brewing Co. The new Brewhouse Bar lures you in with its siren song and the promise of delicious, cold beer. Heed the call and you’ll be rewarded with one of the company’s famous brews including the 28 Pale Ale, which was named after the rare 28-day swell that pounded the coast in 1975, to the cheekily named My Wife’s Bitter, which is actually a dedication of love from Brennan to Peta. Alongside all of the Burleigh Brewing Co. favourites you know and love, the Brewhouse Bar also offers some boutique and one-off creations straight from the mad scientist’s laboratory, also known as A Bit On The Side Department. This is where the brewing team get to experiment and play with all manner of things to create curious concoctions such as Black Giraffe; a potent black coffee larger, Fanny Gertrude’s Bickie Beer; a beer inspired by ANZAC biscuits and Hassle Hop; a strong pale ale that was a hassle to hop.

While some mainstream beer manufacturers can churn out product from start to finish in as little as six days, Burleigh Brewing Co.’s beers can take anywhere between 21 and 28 days, a fact that Peta and Brennan are incredibly passionate about. The pair are unapologetic that Burleigh Brewing Co. beer costs what it costs and takes as long as it takes because ultimately, that’s why it tastes as good as it tastes. All brewing, fermenting, maturing, filtering and packaging is done onsite and despite the company’s growth, the brand continues to uphold their ‘local first’ approach and sources as many of the ingredients and packaging materials as locally as possible. If you’re keen to see the masters at work, book yourself in for one of the brewery’s eye opening Backstage with the Brewmaster events or just pull up a stool in the Brewhouse Bar and sample the fruits of their labour. The Brewhouse Bar will be open every week for tastings and takeaways, offer live music on Fridays and host a crafternoon on Sundays.
