Nosh on betel-leaf tacos at new BiN 89 in Broadbeach

You know the old adage that when you’re on to a good thing you stick with it? Well, it seems that Daniel and Ruggie Ridgeway are on to a great thing as they’ve just opened their fourth BiN restaurant, BiN 89 in Broadbeach. The venue joins BiN 72 in Coolangatta, BiN 12 in Burleigh Heads and BiN 232 at Pacific Fair.

Just because it’s number four in the BiN family doesn’t make it any less exciting, in fact, on the contrary, BiN 89 is the couple’s flagship restaurant. With a strong masculine palette of matte-black, timber, stone and copper, visually the venue bears a strong resemblance to its predecessors however rather than just replicating the formula, Daniel and Ruggie have raised the bar when it comes to the food, drinks and the location. Perched next to Koi dining & lounge bar, BiN 89 is perfect for long lunches with excellent company, food and wine.

The menu was a collaboration between Chef David Watts and Daniel Ridgeway and features some exciting new additions alongside some of the tried and tested favourites including the sticky pork belly and ever-popular popcorn chicken with spicy mayo. If you’re a fan of seafood, start with a betel-leaf taco filled with cured kingfish, avocado mousse, sour cream and chilli salsa before moving on to the pan-fried barramundi fillet with coconut gel, radish and edamame salad. The confit chicken rillettes with chicken consomme and mustard cream and the sangria-braised beef cheek are also mighty fine options. Not to be outdone by the food, the drinks list is equally as extensive and is displayed on an iPad so you can be tempted by all of the pretty cocktails. BiN 89 draws inspiration from the couple’s first venue, Little Truffle in Mermaid Beach, and offers a private dining room with seating for 17, banquet seating for smaller groups and a deliciously diverse food and beverage list.
