Greenhouse Canteen + Bar brings vegan street food to Miami
If you still believe that meat-free means void of taste, Greenhouse Canteen + Bar in Miami is here to blow your mind with flavourful share plates, street food and raw treats. The trendy vegan eatery is from the wonderful soul behind Kirra’s Greenhouse Factory Restaurant & Bar, Natalie Evans.
‘Anything you can do, we can do vegan’ is the unofficial mantra of Greenhouse Canteen + Bar and one quick glimpse of the menu and you’ll understand why. Offering the perfect blend of healthy and indulgent, the wonderfully inventive menu has been designed to show people that a plant-based diet doesn’t have to consist entirely of cos lettuce and tofu. Feast on a pulled-jackfruit enchilada loaded with smoked jackfruit, which for the uninitiated looks and feels just like pulled-pork in texture, and topped with Mexican cashew cheese, sour cream, cabbage and guacamole or treat yo’self to the ‘seafood basket’, which is brimming with battered mushroom fillets, seared ‘scallops’ and hand-cut potato fries. Each dish has been created with so much flavour that even the most unwavering of carnivores haven’t missed the meat.
If you’re feeling a touch parched, Greenhouse Canteen + Bar offers beers on tap alongside a couple of organic wines and medicinal cocktails, which are essentially spiked botanical teas. The venue itself offers more of a nighttime vibe than its southern sibling, which sadly had to close to make way for an apartment building. In addition to amazing meat-free eats, the space also features a permanent pop-up from LOVECHILD to showcase on-point apparel and accessories that are made with love, not animal products. There are plans in the works to host events to raise money for animal charities and even a vegan delicatessen so you can stock up on your nut cheese and not-strami (Greenhouse’s meat-free pastrami).
