Tuck in to tapas at Aurelia Restaurant and Bar in Southport

Despite having only opened its doors late last year, Aurelia Restaurant and Bar, underneath H20 Broadwater in Southport, has earned a stellar reputation for amazing food and even more amazing espresso martinis. The restaurant is the second venture for Dan who also owns Pizza Paradise Gourmet Kitchen in Paradise Point.

By day, Aurelia Restaurant and Bar dishes up modern Australian nosh and Dimattina coffee but as the sun sets, the venue transforms into a trendy Italian-style tapas bar. Named after the moon jellyfish (the non-dangerous kind), the establishment offers a mouthwatering selection of plates including pan-seared scallops perched atop a bed of minted pea puree sprinkled with smoky bacon dust and slow roasted pork belly with housemade smoked apple sauce and refreshing cucumber salad. If you simply can’t decide, opt for the eight-course set menu or if your hunger doesn’t quite stretch that far, there’s a six-course banquet for $50 per person.

Alongside moreish morsels, Aurelia boasts an alluring selection of cocktails including the house special espresso martini, which Dan adamantly believes is the best on the Gold Coast. The secret is a dash of Spanish vanilla liqueur, which adds a delightful sweetness to the swill. If you fancy yourself a bit of a cocktail connoisseur, you’ll have to pop in and see for yourself what all the fuss is about.
