Chinese New Year at Robina Town Centre

It may be the Year of the Monkey, but there’s a menagerie of other furry, feathery (and of course friendly!) animals on the loose at Robina Town Centre this month.

In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year on Monday February 8, Robina Town Centre is offering the ultimate family-friendly experience, complete with special appearances from Dreamworks’ Kung Fu Panda 3 characters, plus a magnificent, traditional Chinese Garden and a dazzling display of lion dancers.

Featuring an impressive canopy of festoon lighting and lanterns, Chinese paper parasols and bamboo plants (installed in honour of everyone’s favourite Panda, Po), visitors will be transported to an oasis of tranquillity once they step inside the Chinese Garden (located in Centre Court, outside T2 and Nike) – a place to escape, reflect and feel at peace.

A Chinese New Year celebration wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Kung Fu Panda’s hero Po, who is visiting the Centre in the lead up to the highly anticipated release of the third instalment of the Kung Fu Panda franchise at Event Cinemas Robina on Thursday March 24.

Shoppers of all ages can get their Kung Fu Panda 3 fix with an opportunity to meet Po each Saturday and Sunday at Robina Town Centre throughout February from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Tigress, Master Shifu and Mr Ping will also be there in spirit, as they are intricately carved into impressive sand sculptures within the Chinese Garden, on display until Sunday February 28, as part of Surfers Paradise Alliance’s annual Gold Coast Sand Safari.

For those after a more traditional way to celebrate the turn of the Chinese calendar, Robina Town Centre will also delight shoppers with a magical lion dance performance, set to take place at 11:00 am on Monday February 8.
