The round-up: five booze-free mocktails to try

If you are on the FebFast wagon or have sworn off grog for the foreseeable future (perhaps because you overdid it in the silly season, we’ve all been there) chances are by now, you’re beginning to tire of ordering a mineral water while everyone around you is enjoying delicious beverages of the alcoholic variety. Booze-free doesn’t have to mean boring, we’ve round-up some of our favourite mocktails for you to sip on while you contemplate all of the things you’re going to do tomorrow when you’re hangover free.

The Virgin Island from Aloha Bar & DiningFresh pineapple, coconut water, coconut puree, lime and homemade orgeat (a traditional tiki syrup made with almond milk, natural cane sugar and a touch of orange blossom water) served in a coconut. The magnificent creation is so delicious you won’t even miss the alcohol.

Passion Apple Cooler from Justin Lane EstablishmentSoak in the sun on the rooftop bar and slurp on this delicious concoction of passionfruit, apple, pineapple, lime and lemonade until your heart’s content. It’s like summer in a fancy glass.

Watermelon and mint caprioska from Sparrow Eating HouseA refreshing, fruity swill with just a hint of sour, Sparrow’s mocktail caprioska is just like the real deal only you won’t end up nursing a hangover as a result. If watermelon isn’t your favourite fruit, the talented barman can whip up most of the establishment’s cocktails sans booze if you ask nicely.

Tropical Sunrise from Miss MargaritaWith an entire section on the menu dedicated to alcohol-free creations, Miss Margarita is serious about their mocktails. While they all sound mighty appealing, our pick is a tropical mix of mango, grenadine, pineapple and soda, because it’s pretty hard to be sad when you’re sipping on a mango-flavoured cup of happiness.

Peach and Ginger Kick from Garden Kitchen & Bar: With peach puree, agave syrup, fresh lime and ginger ale, it is a match made in mocktail heaven.

Honourable mentions:
Okay, so we know we said five but it would be remiss not to mention the virgin Pina Colada from Tupe-Aloha, actually, the crew can whip up most of the venue’s cocktail list sans booze.
