Big, bold flavours, colourful dishes and tequila, it’s little wonder why Mexican food is an eternal crowd favourite. If you have been on the hunt for authentic Mexican, pull up a seat at Broadbeach’s brand-new taco slinger Nude Amigos. Here’s everything you need to know …

If you didn’t get an inkling from the name, Nude Amigos is dedicated to fun. The venue is the latest from Sara Hawkins, who also owns Kin in Burleigh Heads, and has transformed the former Cardamom Pod overlooking the park in Broadbeach. Featuring a thatched roof hovering over the impressive back-lit bar, which houses the venue’s 70-strong artisan tequila and mezcal selection, Nude Amigos offers a casual cordiality that draws you in, but it’s the next-level menu that will have you coming back time and time again. “We’re not just about good food; we’re about exceptional experiences,” Sara says. “Its where authentic Mexican flavours come alive.” To ensure the sentiment’s literal interpretation, there are plans to introduce all-day happy hour on Sundays, piñata shots and scorpion challenges.

When it comes to the fare, Sara says the venue’s commitment to quality and authenticity is woven into every aspect of the experience. Fresh, local produce takes centre stage, enhancing the flavours of the food and margaritas, which use freshly squeezed lime. The menu meanders from light bites of chargrilled corn with coriander mayo and totopos with traditional guacamole that’s made in a molcajete. The sopes with pulled chicken, beef or jackfruit offer a tasty twist on traditional tacos, but for sticklers for tradition, there are eight different types of tacos to munch on. For a theatrical main, the Azteca flaming steak is served flaming at the table bathed in a chipotle mezcal butter. Ensuring that no guest is left behind, Nude Amigos offers a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options as well as a dedicated menu for little ones. When it comes to the drinks, margaritas are undoubtedly the hero with hand pressed lime juice and Patron tequila. “We’re here to provide an exceptional journey through flavours and experiences,” Sara explains. “Every visit is a celebration of good vibes and great times.”
