Controversial opinion, we love a good two-in-one. Whether it’s a shampoo/conditioner hybrid or this Vegetmite Butter – we’re here for it. While we’re on the subject of two birds one stone, there’s a brand-new coffee-slinger/barber that is here to have you looking and feeling sharp with top-notch brews and slick ’dos – say hello to the new WavyBone Barber Bro’s & Co collab on Charles Avenue in Broadbeach.

WavyBone first won over the local caffeine-obsessed populace with a retro caravan that rolled up to various events and pop-ups across the coast, and as far south as Sydney. Once they had amassed a dedicated following, childhood pals Michael Ruzic and Darvin Sejdic swapped wheels for walls and opened WavyBone’s first bricks-and-mortar venue in Chirn Park, just in time for Covid to wreak havoc on the world. Through various stages of lockdowns and takeaway transitions, the WavyBone team remained steadfast in their commitment to slinging quality brews and top-notch nosh. As a result, the pair emerged out the other side with a newfound pep in their step and expansion in their sights. An opportunity presented itself to join forces with Barber Bro’s & Co and while it initially seemed like two pretty different business models, upon reflection, they actually found plenty of commonalities. When envisaging the joint space, each entity was conscious of creating a home where both a barista and barber could not only co-exist comfortably but also complement one another, and, judging from the queue of people in and out, they’ve nailed the brief.

While the new WavyBone is small in stature, 25 sqm to be exact, the sibling space upholds Chirn Park’s unwavering commitment to quality with culturally crafted brews, table service and friendly baristas that know regulars by name and coffee order. Geared primarily towards takeaway, there are a handful of tables inside and out for those who prefer to sit and savour the experience. Speaking of, you’ll find Blackboard Coffee Roasters‘ specialty beans flowing through the machines, which can be enjoyed as espresso, filter or pour-over, alongside kombucha, cold-pressed HRVST juices and a tempting array of baked goods from Bundall’s The Pastry Emporium. Filling the remaining 35 sqm of space is Barber Bro’s & Co. Whether you’re in need of a college contour with your coffee, a neat short back and sides or your man mane needs a little TLC, you’re in excellent hands as the Barber Bro’s & Co team is renowned for keeping the old-school art of barbering alive. Go ahead and treat yourself to a hot-towel razor shave, you deserve it.

WavyBone Broadbeach is now open for brews and bites, with the barber available for bookings here as well as walk-ins.
