Harvest Buffet is back, baby, so ready your finest stretchy pants
The last two years have been pretty tumultuous, to say the least, but never again will we take a meal with mates or extended family gatherings for granted. If you too have a rediscovered fondness for food-filled gatherings, we have some pretty exciting news – after a short COVID-related hiatus, Harvest Buffet is reopening on December 3 and it’s the perfect excuse to rally the crew for a bottomless feast.
Pants jokes aside, there really is something wonderfully freeing about a bountiful buffet spread. There are no rules, no set menus and no stopping for a cheeky cheeseburger on the way home because you’re still hungry – what’s not to love? Buffets are the ultimate expression of culinary freedom – if you fancy starting with dessert, go right ahead! If it’s been a little while in between sittings, consider this the invitation you’ve been waiting for. Harvest Buffet is a gastronomic wonderland, from the live food stations that showcase the chefs’ wizardry to the seafood smorgasbord that is brimming with oysters, prawns, sushi, crabs and mussels. Carnivores will salivate at the sight of the carvery section and those after a bit of spice will appreciate the Chinese barbecue and Asian-inspired stations that are curated by The Star’s head of Asian cuisine Song Yao Su.
The adventure doesn’t end there. There’s an Italian section with rustic dishes and handmade pizza and pasta offerings, charcuterie spreads and cheeses, as well as vibrant summer-inspired salads that categorically refute the “you don’t make friends with salad” malarkey. Just be sure to save room for a trip (or more, we’re not counting) to the famous dessert station, which is complete with an incredible 2-m Willy Wonka-esque chocolate fountain. Those with bambinos in tow will also appreciate the specially designed height-appropriate children’s buffet bursting with simplified eats and child-friendly favourites.
