Marie Claire and James Street join forces for block party

On March 29, the James Street precinct will be flooded with stylish folk for a special event celebrating the 200th issue of style-bible Marie Claire. The James Street Up Late event will give locals the chance to steal a bargain with an abundance of special deals, as well as the opportunity to meet and greet the designers themselves.

From 5:00–9:00 pm, the street will be transformed to a bubbling hub of pop-up stores and street stalls, as well as special offers available at most boutiques. Each store will become a playpen of fashion and entertainment for the night – Cru Bar + Cellar will become the Louis Roederer champagne bar, and a special Marie Claire lounge will be erected opposite Harvey’s where goodie bags from the night will be available – the perfect finishing touch to any party.

Fashion-fans should prepare to rub shoulders with Marie Claire editor and publisher Jackie Frank and her team who will be visiting instore, offering advice on the trends. Some of the evening’s other visitors will include designers Camilla Franks from Camilla, Heidi Middleton of sass & bide, the boys from KSUBI and Easton Pearson’s Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson.

You will definitely need to prepare your wallet for the evening – slick deals abound for shoppers with a range of discounts on offer for all guests, as well as special pop-up shops in the form of the uber-popular Aje., celebrated designer Gail Sorronda and a satellite store for Easton Pearson’s EP label. To maintain your energy through the night’s mingling, James Street will be lined with food stalls full of tasty concoctions including dumplings, steamed buns with pork belly and Middle Eastern pita pockets.
