Discover your inner dandy with Monsieur Lacenaire
Pierre François Lacenaire was a dandy. He was also a French poet and criminal, sentenced to the guillotine in 1836.
But it was his carefully constructed style and eloquent language that stood out as his strongest traits to French designer Garance Broca when she chose his name for her high-end knitwear label Monsieur Lacenaire last year.
Earning her designer brownie badges at fashion houses Balmain and Hermès, Garance decided to branch from the big names and create a menswear label with the folly and sophistication of Pierre Lacenaire and his fellow beaus.
Exploring the dashing elegance of this historical figure through modern day knitwear, Garance’s jacquards exude luxury, crafted from extra-fine Italian Merino wool. Paying particular attention to quality, Monsieur Lacenaire jumpers are knitted on the high plateaus of Peru with alpaca and baby alpaca wools, using age-old techniques of cable-stitching and jacquard.
Single and double-breasted cardigans, pullovers and vests feature in the Autumn/Winter collection, now available on Mr Porter.
