Famiglia feasts and free cannoli – celebrate Settimo’s first birthday with chef Guy Grossi

While some people shy away from birthday celebrations, we believe that every lap around the sun should be celebrated. Lucky for us, Guy Grossi shares that belief. Friday February 23 marks one year since the renowned chef opened his Amalfi-inspired restaurant Settimo at The Westin Brisbane. Guy is heading to Brisbane to mark the occasion and, together with Settimo’s award-winning head chef Alessandro Pizzolato, has planned a five-day celebration for all to enjoy. These Italians sure know how to party.

To kick off the celebrations, Guy Grossi and Alessandro Pizzolato will be personally handing out birthday treats at Settimo’s complimentary cannoli pop-up in Queen Street Mall on Tuesday February 20. Head to the Queen Street Mall Main Stage from 7:00–10:00 am for your chance to meet Guy and Alessandro and take away a signature Settimo cannoli for the perfect sweet start to your day.

Friday February 23 is the official first year anniversary date, with Guy and Alessandro hosting an intimate evening – Un Anno Di Anniversario – for its Settimo famiglia. Guests will enjoy a five-course menu of handcrafted exclusive new dishes showcasing premium local produce – think South Australian black mussels, local pipis, Skull Island prawns and more. This festive feast will be served with matched wines – bookings are essential.

Ever wanted to learn the art of perfect pasta making? Who better to teach you than two of Australia’s lauded Italian chefs? The birthday celebrations continue on Saturday February 24 with an exclusive pasta masterclass, led by Guy and Alessandro. After a sell-out masterclass experience last year, the duo are back to share their secrets to creating the perfect pasta. The hands-on session will see you kneading, rolling and shaping your own pasta, then enjoying the spoils of your hard work! Guy, Alessandro and your fellow pasta makers will gather together around Settimo’s dining table to indulge in your handmade creations with a glass of wine in hand. Book your spot via the Settimo website.

The celebrations don’t end this week! Settimo is bringing la dolce vita to Brisbane City, launching a new aperitivo hour on Thursday February 22. Every Thursday to Saturday from 4:00–6:00 pm, make your way to Settimo to enjoy chef Alessandro’s assagini tasting plate and a signature cocktail for $15. You’ll be able to choose from classic Italian aperitifs such as negronis, limoncello spritzes and Settimo’s signature Amalfi spritz, served alongside a selection of small Italian plates including pizze fritte, fritto misto di mare and oysters with cucumber and prosecco. If you’re keen to keep the Italian vibes going, you can book in to The Westin’s Stay and Dine package, which includes a one-night stay and a signature two-course set dinner and breakfast for two at Settimo.
