Known for producing some of the best pizza in New York, Roberta’s in Brooklyn is much for than a restaurant. This video gives a sneak peek into the multiple layers of the Roberta’s empire, chatting to head gardener Melissa Metrick. The Bushwick site is also home to a garden space, where the team grows its own vegetables in raised garden beds atop shipping containers, and recycles and reuses a lot of found materials like old sinks into pots for plants and storage containers that use to house barley to shape the space. The DIY cooperative also houses beehives and a bakery, with younger-brother, sleek tasting kitchen Blanca also quietly nestled behind the buzzing pizzeria.
