The creation of Marcia and Andy Georges, Mr & Mrs G Riverbar has opened just after these local restaurant royals celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first-born, Il Centro. With the new cocktail and tapas bar located out the front of Il Centro, it’s just a short skip across the way for regulars, and easy to spot for first-timers.

Boasting almost panoramic views of the Story Bridge and the river, Mr & Mrs G is aesthetically interesting outside and in. The interior was fashioned by Marcia and local design darling Anna Spiro, with the pair choosing all of the fabrics, furniture, cushions, wallpaper, lights and tiles together. The resulting look includes Mediterranean-inspired blue-and-white tiling along the bar front matched perfectly to hand-painted stools, while vintage cages entrap lights above ship-worthy bottles. The finishing touch in this colourful abode is a wall of framed newspaper clippings, menus and old photos of Mr and Mrs Georges themselves spanning 20 years of memories. Pop in for a plate of Terrine with Brioche and Chutney or perhaps the Scallops with Black Rice, Chorizo and Red Peppers washed down with a Champagne cocktail.
