If you’ve ever lived or holidayed in Sydney, there’s a good chance you’ve shopped at Harris Farm Markets – a one-stop shop for fruit, vegetables and all of your delicatessen needs. In good news for Brisbane dwellers, Harris Farm Markets officially opened at Clayfield on Wednesday December 16, marking the family-owned company’s historic return to Queensland – a move that’s been three decades in the making.

Get excited market lovers! This week we will be gifted with the return of a fresh produce institution – Harris Farm Markets – just in time for Christmas feast shopping. The New South Wales-based business has taken over the site formerly occupied by the Clayfield Markets on Sandgate Road in a full-circle homecoming – Harris Farm previously owned the site 30 years ago before handing it over to long-time operators Carlo and Susan Lorenti. It won’t be goodbye for Carlo and Susan – the couple will be staying on as managers, along with as many staff as possible. To welcome in the new era, the space has also undergone a schmick remodel and redesign before opening under its new name.

Clayfield is the first of two Brisbane stores to open, with the flagship store at West Village set to open its doors in May next year. The two Brisbane stores will offer produce from more than 300 Queensland growers, creators and producers, including Longreach Organic Lamb, Roza’s Gourmet sauces, organic chicken from Hobbs Family Farms Organic in Pittsworth, and milk from Queensland’s multi-award-winning Maleny Dairies on tap! The Clayfield store will be a one-stop shop to source Queensland’s best fruit and vegetables, housing a tomato shed, organic produce section and a leaderboard of Queensland strawberries and mangoes. Those planning on making a well-rounded charcuterie board for their Christmas party will be pleased to hear the store will also feature an extensive deli and selection of more than 200 cheeses (can you brie-live it?), a mammoth bakery section, and a butcher boasting a premium meat selection.
