Indulge in life’s finer things at Fish Lane’s La Lune Wine Co

We have a lot to thank Paul McGivern for. From Camp Hill’s Restaurant Rapide to Hamilton’s Restaurant Manx, and more recently to the hatted The Wolfe in East Brisbane, the renowned chef has been pleasing our palates for a number of years. So when he announced a new French-inspired wine bar in Fish Lane, our interest was naturally piqued. La Lune Wine Co quietly opened its doors over the weekend, and with more than 120 wines on the menu, we’re quite sure it won’t disappoint. more

Well, apparently all of that isn’t enough for Steen, who has been working away to bring the people of Brisbane a place to eat, drink, hang and celebrate the good life. His latest project Deathproof opens in New Farm tomorrow, Friday March 17 at 3:00 pm, so if you aren’t already familiar with Steen, you will be soon. more

As Alicia Keys sang on the chorus of Jay Z’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ – “Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York”. A piece of New York has come to George Street in the Brisbane CBD in the form of 51st Street. It’s already March and the 2016 EAT/drink Awards seem to be distant in our rear-view mirror, but let’s not move on too quickly! The awards are only just picking up steam on the Gold Coast and we’ve barely even had time to acknowledge all of those who voted for the Brisbane round. We’ve got to hand it to you all – you’ve got some great taste. If you have been planning a bar crawl (or maybe the idea is only entering your mind just now), you won't find a better list of candidates than right here. more

The round-up: Brisbane’s best bar snacks with bite

Okay, that’s it – this is the last time I want to hear any of you say, “these pretzels are makin’ me thirsty”. We get it, Seinfeld is hilarious but pretzels as bar snacks are so clichéd. We’d rather tie our own stomachs in a pretzel-like knot than punish our tastebuds with any more basic salted snacks. We don't just want bar food with pizazz, we demand it. Forgo the fries and aioli for some nibbles with serious bite – we’ve got the 411 on where to go for some snacks with attitude. more

Fortitude Valley’s music mecca The Zoo set to debut its new and improved look

One of Brisbane’s oldest and most beloved live music venues is getting a new lease on life. The Zoo has been given a serious sprucing to make it more comfortable for punters and bands, incorporating some slick new elements without sacrificing any of the rough and tumble charm that has made it the go-to spot to catch live music for the past 25 years. While the look is being kept under wraps until the relaunch on Saturday February 4, we’ve got the scoop on what you can expect. more

Those living in Chapel Hill and surrounds have been a little short on options when it came to nearby watering holes, until now.
