Frog’s Hollow Saloon is turning two – and three of the country’s best bars are coming to town to celebrate

How does a bar known for dispensing good times as much as it’s known for serving good drinks celebrate its own birthday? By going absolutely balls to the wall, of course. Frog’s Hollow Saloon is turning two and it’s marking the occasion with a month of booze-fuelled parties and takeovers from some of Australia’s most esteemed bars, including Adelaide’s Cry Baby and Memphis Slim’s House Of Blues, and Sydney’s star martini spot Bar Planet. Here’s what the crew has planned …

When Frog’s Hollow Saloon opened on Charlotte Street in March 2022, it didn’t take long for the honky tonk-inspired boozer to cement itself as one of Brisbane’s best spots for a drink. Chalk it up to the 60-seater haunt’s service-driven warmth, well-provisioned back bar and continually evolving cocktail menu – either way, the whisky specialist has certainly worked its way into the hearts of many.

Next month, Frog’s Hollow will celebrate its second birthday with a huge, booze-soaked celebration. It’s not doing it alone, either. Alongside its rock ‘n’ roll-blasting, bourbon-swilling, back alley-based sibling Alice, Frog’s Hollow has extended the invite to some of its interstate friends, who will be venturing north for five weeks of parties and takeovers.

First, the crew from Adelaide’s hard-rockin’ hangover merchant Cry Baby will commandeer the bar at Alice on Sunday February 18 for what will be a debauchery-filled shindig, sponsored by Makers Mark. The following week on Sunday February 25, whisky lovers are encouraged to back it up for the Jameson Rave Cave party at Alice, which will swap the 80s hair metal tunes for a propulsive playlist of dance bangers.

On Sunday March 3, Frog’s Hollow Saloon will make room for the wild bunch behind Memphis Slim’s House Of Blues – Cry Baby’s New Orleans-inspired basement-bound brother – for a night of rousing hospitality, sponsored by Basil Hayden. And then the martini maestros from Sydney’s Bar Planet (regarded as Australia’s best gin bar) will unpack the porróns and settle in at Frog’s Hollow on Sunday March 10 for a Hendrick’s Gin-sponsored night of dry, wet, shaken and dirty fun.

Finally, Frog’s Hollow will bring it home for a huge second birthday bonanza on Sunday March 24. We’ve been told to expect loud music, punchy drinks, good times and maybe some sore heads.
