Halloween burlesque shows, seafood festivals and Aperol brunches – five must-do events happening this spring in Fortitude Valley

It’s all happening at The Prince Consort, with the Fortitude Valley entertainment destination getting into the spring spirit by transforming into a floral oasis to celebrate Spring Fling. Expect to stroll in to a lush, botanical garden this October, which is only made better by a calendar jam-packed with some of the most exciting events Fortitude Valley has to offer. Here’s our pick of the bunch …

Sample botanical spirits at the Harvest Gin Dinner
Calling all gin lovers! On Wednesday October 19, the Harvest Gin Dinner is taking over The Prince Consort. This spirited feast will showcase whistle-wetting sips from the Poor Toms range paired with a specially crafted menu by head chef David Blackman – think crab sandwiches, lamb rump and woodfired mulled wine grapes with custard honeycomb. Plus, there will be a Q&A with David and the Poor Toms team, so make sure to write down any of your noggin-scratching questions. Tickets are $120 per person.

Fill your heart (and ears) with Bowie tunes
There’s nothing quite like enjoying a cocktail to the soundtrack of David Bowie, so this next event is truly music to our ears. On Thursday October 20, Bowie fans can get their fill of the Starman at Hunky Dory, with Alison St Ledger performing the album in its entirety with the help of a handful of magic-making musicians. While you’re lapping up the live music, you can graze on mouth-watering eats like four-cheese arancini with truffle mayo and grated pecorino, 15-hour slow-cooked lamb shoulder, and dark chocolate torte with Baileys cream and burnt white chocolate. Tickets start at $40, and there are dinner and cocktail packages available.

Spritz it up at this Aperol Brunch
While we daydream of holidays spent sipping spritz on the Amalfi coast, we know of one locale that is equipped to serve up all of the same goodness (well minus the coast part). An Aperol Spring Brunch is taking over The Prince Consort on Saturday October 22, where guests can soak up the sun and plenty of spritz. As well as a host of Aperol tipples, this ultimate garden brunch features the tasty likes of crispy halloumi with pomegranate and dukkha, chicken bao with pickled chilli, lime mayonnaise and coriander, and strawberry strudel with cream cheese. Tickets are only $60 each but spots are limited so we suggest you hop to it!

Celebrate sumptuous seafood from South-East Queensland
Seafood enthusiasts can get their fix of ocean-caught fare at the Seafood Festival on Sunday October 30. The Prince Consort will host a bevy of seafood specialists and industry leaders who will be doling out delicious sea delicacies like sashimi, prawns and other fresh seafood. There will also be live entertainment and family-friendly fun on the day, so bring along the nippers for a guaranteed great day out. The best part? This seafood celebration is free to attend!

Have a scary good time at this Halloween soiree
It’s almost our favourite spooky time of the year. Yep, Halloween is creeping up around the corner and The Prince Consort is priming for a frighteningly fun time on Saturday October 29. Enjoy a Halloween-themed Vanguard Burlesque show with headliner Bettie Bombshell starting the night in La La Land before AURORA takes over for the late-night party with headliner Jordan Burns taking stage. The entertainment doesn’t stop there with The Prince residents keeping the party going all night long in the Garden and best-dressed prizes for those who arrive in their hottest Halloween look.

Head to The Prince Consort website for further information on all of the Spring Fling events or to grab tickets.
