Calling all musicophiles – pick up vinyl treasures at this year’s Record Store Day

When it comes to listening to our favourite tunes, nothing beats the crackle of a good record (sorry Spotify, sometimes you simply just don’t cut it). On Saturday April 23, die-hard vinyl fans will celebrate Record Store Day – a whole day dedicated to the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned entities play in their communities. Brisbane’s favourite vinyl slingers are getting in on the action with a celebration taking over Brunswick Street Mall – here are all of the need-to-know deets …

As Brisbane’s live-music mecca, Fortitude Valley continues to hero and nurture the city’s renowned entertainment industry. Every weekend you’ll find gig-goers stumbling out of venues like The Fortitude Music Hall, The Zoo, The Tivoli and The Brightside after their ears have been treated to only the finest live tunes Brisbane has to offer. This Saturday, the same music-frothing folk can celebrate all things music at Record Store Day – and there’s no better destination to show your appreciation for independent record stores, recording studios and the local music scene than in The Valley.

Record Store Day festivities will take over Brunswick Street Mall from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday April 23, with DJs from The Valley’s Catalog Music, QUIVR and 4ZZZ set to soundtrack your weekend. You can also check out the suitcase rummage markets where a treasure trove of vinyl gems, art, books, jewellery, shoes, badges, vintage bric-a-brac and handmade products awaits. We’re sure you’ll be able to find a new (old) band shirt or two, so show your support and turn it up in The Valley for a five-hour jam this weekend! To peep the full program, head here.
