peculiar preservations at State Library Of Queensland

Learn about Queensland Museum’s peculiar preservations

Behind closed doors some curious procedures are practised at the Queensland Museum, and the public are privileged to find out more about these in Peculiar Preservations on Tuesday November 12.

In an event that will reveal some of the museum’s secrets, Peculiar Preservations will offer insight into the art of preservation. The institution’s collection manager Heather Janetzki will talk inquisitive snoops through the preparation techniques, including taxidermy and skeleton preparation, practised on site.

Those in attendance will be able to see some of Heather’s interesting specimens and local artist Emma Lindsay will show you how the specimens can be used by researchers and artists with a live art class. Sip on tea from Slurp, while you learn from the people in the know about the intriguing craft of preservation. The event is presented as part of SLQ’s Clever Convention series.
