Museum of Brisbane celebrates 20 years with a culture-packed day of family-friendly tours, workshops and activities

Brisbane’s home of storytelling is turning 20 and is hosting a birthday bash filled with free, family-friendly tours, talks, workshops and activities to celebrate. For the past two decades, Museum of Brisbane has welcomed more than five million visitors through its doors, sharing stories of the people, places and events that have shaped our city. We think this is a pretty good reason to celebrate, so be sure to clear your calendars on Saturday October 21 as MoB is pulling out all of the stops for the big two zero. Keep reading for all of the details …

Head to Museum of Brisbane on Saturday October 21 for a jam-packed program of exciting events, in honour of MoB’s 20th birthday. Start the day off in the studio at the Impossible Pots workshop, then head to the Dome Gallery for a special Aboriginal cultural performance by Nunukul Yuggera. At 11:00 am, hear from MoB director Zoe Graham and enjoy a free cupcake (yum!), then at 1:00 pm circle back to the studio to attend an object-handling workshop.

From 2:15–3:00 pm, join a Q&A with MoB’s Curatorial and Collections team, then get creative with clay at Clay: Collected Ceramics and Commune, which are running throughout the day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will also be a spectacular selection of tours to experience including Clock Tower Tours, taking place every 15 minutes from 10:15 am to 4:45 pm, City Hall Tours (10:30 am, 11:30 am and 1:30 pm) and a Museum Highlights Tour (11:00 am, 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm). The best part? Everything is free! All you need to do is start planning your party itinerary.

Keen to get involved in MoB’s 20th birthday celebrations? Head to the Museum of Brisbane website for more information and to view the entire program.
