Carnivorous plants and comedic antics on offer at the Little Shop of Horrors

This iconic off-Broadway production is hitting Australia for a riotous romp along the east coast, stopping in Brisbane for a run of dates at QPAC’s Playhouse from June 1–12.

Here’s a fun fact you might not be aware of – the writers of Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast also created the smash hit (and slightly more adult) Little Shop of Horrors. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken created the hilarious musical, which took the world by storm when it hit Broadway in 1982, spawning a film of the same name in 1986. The stage show has continued going strong, with the tale of Seymour Krelborn and his foul-mouthed, carnivorous plant Audrey II bringing in audiences across the globe.

Little Shop of Horrors will be taking over QPAC this month, with stage stars from Brent Hill and Esther Hannaford leading a cast of talented performers. The production also features a fantastic, bone-chilling monster puppet from visual theatre innovators Erth, as well as choreography from Andrew Hallsworth, set design from Owen Phillips and costumes from Tim Chappel. Head to the QPAC website to ensure you are front and centre when Audrey II inevitably breaks loose.
