Hot out of the kiln and into your living room! The Clayschool Winter Market returns to West Village

Hot out of the kiln and into your living room! The Clayschool Winter Market returns to West Village

The beauty of clay lies in its morphing abilities, transforming from an unassuming lump to a beautiful creation at the hands of its maker. The ever-so-popular Clayschool Winter Market pop-up is returning to West Village’s The Common, for an arty affair full of hidden treasures and one-of-a-kind creations.

Let’s face it, we have all watched Ghost and yearned for both Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore’s steamy chemistry and their exceptional pottery skills. Enter, Clayschool – Brisbane’s leading clay school led by founder and seasoned ceramic craftsman, Ray Cavill. Whilst Ray and the Clayschool team might not have much to offer you in the chemistry department, they can certainly help with the latter, equipping aspiring pot(tery) heads with the tricks of the ceramics trade – from hand-building, mould making and skill development to surface effects, wheel techniques and clay theory. With a host of hands-on seasoned professionals at the students’ disposal, it’s not hard to see why amateurs, once clay-free and clueless, see themselves walk out with unique pieces of finished ceramics crafted from their own two hands.

On Saturday June 17, make your way to The Common at West Village for the return of Clayschool’s Winter Market pop-up, where you can peruse a display of its students’ one-of-a-kind creations. This arty affair offers market-goers a chance to discover and take home handmade treasures while showing local love to those that have poured time, effort and creativity into their new-found passion or long-standing craft. Clayschool’s Winter Market will be taking over The Common from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm – perfect timing for you to work up an appetite and indulge in something delicious from West Village’s delectable array of dining options after!
