TWE Trestle table

Kit out your studio with a trestle table desk

When setting up your studio with the perfect desk, there’s no need to skulk toward an office supplier for a filing cabinet-containing, heavy contraption on which to conduct your affairs. We’ve foraged together a few trendy trestle tables to consider.

The creation of Perth-born, Melbourne-based musician-turned-furniture maker Patrick Leonard O’Brien, Tressel Table Co. handcrafts trestle tables from sustainably farmed birch plywood. Simplicity is key to the design, with a humble coloured cord threaded through the legs the only embellishment. Keep yours timeless in natural wood, or add a wash of soft colour to the tabletop and legs.

Master & Master creates stackable table trestles in multiple colours in the Czech Republic. Stable and lightweight, these diamond trestles were designed by Michal Malášek and are only crafted in low to medium volumes so you can ensure you’re investing in a limited-edition product. The angular legs are available in five colours, with the bright hues of yellow, blue and green well-suited to light wooden table tops, while the monochromatic black and white legs look particularly dapper beneath a stained bench.

If you’re taking a more rustic approach to your home or studio’s interiors, tilt your gaze towards Sydney company Timbermill’s traditional trestle table. These handcrafted tables are made to order and come with the option of white, coral, yellow or purple dipped legs with the natural timber.

Alternatively, Henry Wilson makes an A-joint mini utilitarian joinery system from reclaimed metals, which can be used to connect standardised timbers, creating a unique trestle table that is strong and adaptable.
