South Brisbane’s Skyneedle gets ready for redevelopment
The iconic landmark of Brisbane’s southern skyline will be refurbished alongside the construction of a new apartment complex.
A solitary structure has stood tall in South Brisbane since 1988, constructed as part of Expo ’88. The Skyneedle, which was purchased by another Brisbane icon Stefan Ackerie has been a part of the city’s landscape for decades, and is finally receiving an overhaul courtesy of property developers, Pradella. As part of a $125 million redevelopment, Pradella will be constructing a new apartment complex, boasting 200 abodes across two towers.
Construction on the Skyneedle development is scheduled to commence in mid-2016, with stage one of the project seeking to deliver 110 one and two bedtoom apartments over 11 levels, as well as adding a grassed terrace, outdoor pool and entertaining areas. At this stage, one-bedroom units look toretail for $415,000 with two bedrooms going for $545,000. The Skyneedle development will include Predella’s signature resort-style amenities while reflecting Skyneedles bold statement and ensuring its preservation into the future.
