Showcasing the maturation of design in Queensland over the last decade, Hightide is a new design publication featuring 22 of the state’s leading design practitioners across contemporary industrial, furniture and object design.
The creation of the owner and lead designer of Luxxbox design studio, Jason Bird, Hightide exhibits the array of world-class products now being designed and made in Queensland and opens a dialogue about the place of design in the world. Ranging from high-tech computing platforms to intentionally low-fi furniture, the featured pieces are paired with insights into the inspirations of the designers.
A critical contribution from editor-in-chief of InDesign and Habitus magazines Paul McGillick sits amongst essays from Paul Fairweather and Marc Harrison, while Alexander Lotersztain, Ellaspede and KT Doyle are amongst the highlighted local talents. Exploring the ability of local designers to be influenced by geographic regionality not defined by it, Hightide vividly documents the unique landscape of the Australian design scene. Buy it here.
