Check out the new offerings at Newstead’s Damotori

After seven months of dinner trading, this haven of traditional Japanese cuisine is adding a new lunch menu alongside some other exciting changes.

Situated on the corner of Commercial Road, Masters Street and Wyandra Street, Damotori occupies one of the most unique spots in Newstead. Sharing space with cafe Tri Street Eatery, Damotori has slowly built up a following for its brand of traditional Japanese cuisine and has taken the next step in expanding its offering – adding a new lunch menu and knocking down a few walls to open up the interior. New wooden and timber furniture has been added, and a deck will be attached to the building, offering more space for group dining.

The dinner menu consists of starters, salads, soup and rice dishes, tempura and fried meals, sizzling and grilled dishes as well as a selection of sushi and sashimi. Patrons can now enjoy spring rolls, karrage chicken, udon, curries and sushi from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm – with takeaway available for those on the go. The next few months will see Damatori adding a new bar to the space. Biru Shinobi (or Beer Ninja), which will be serving a selection of Japanese craft beers, sake, shoju and whisky as well as a range of bar bites.
