Diner en Blanc Brisbane

Diner en Blanc picnic returns to Brisbane

Brisbane foodies with a penchant for the peculiar can pack their picnic baskets and head along to an underground dining event with a difference on Saturday August 31.

Dress in your finest white threads, gather your favourite picnic morsels … and wait. Diner en Blanc is taking guerrilla dining to a whole new level with a mass pop-up picnic being held in a secret location somewhere in our city on Saturday August 31. The global food phenomenon will celebrate its 25th birthday this year, as thousands of good-time gastronomes descend upon Brisbane to share an evening of food, wine and revelry. Guests BYO picnic baskets, white folding tables, chairs and dinnerware, and meet at a rallying location before being whisked off to a surprise dining destination in one of the city’s most scenic spots.

The ‘dinner in white’ was first conceived by Frenchman François Pasquier in Paris a quarter of a century ago, and the event has now spread to cities all around the world. It’s an opportunity for people of different backgrounds to gather in a public space and literally break bread together. Last year’s event saw more than 1,000 guests converging on the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank, and local organisers are expecting more than 2,500 mouths this year. Tickets are selling fast, so head online and register your interest ASAP.
