Over those 300 issues we’ve sipped on a lot of craft beer, munched on a whole lot of delicious food and Instagrammed more avocado on toast than we care to admit. To celebrate, the team has come together to compile our 300 favourite bites and sips across our fine city. Not since Gerard Butler lead a fearsome procession of scantily clad spartans to war have we been this amazed by 300 of anything. It’s a great time to be a resident of Brisbane’s inner south. We’re seeing a huge boom in the local cafe scene, and Doc Brown is the latest establishment to join the wave. A space so fly you’d swear it was riding a hoverboard, Doc Brown pairs great coffee and a scrumptious menu with shmick fit-out and a dash of retro-cinema cool. At the risk of overdoing it on the Back to the Future references, we’re going to humbly suggest that you hop in your Delorean and make tracks for West End as soon as possible. Blackstar Coffee Roasters welcomes pocket-sized bro Small Axe in West End

Blackstar Coffee Roasters is somewhat of a pioneer in the Brisbane coffee scene. Opening on West End's Thomas Street in 2007, it quickly made its mark on Brisbane caffeine aficionados – it was committed to roasting fair-trade 100 percent organic coffee, which was a rarity back then, and it was the first cafe in town to offer cold-brew coffee. Crazy how much has changed in ten years, huh? Holding true to its core values and continuing attracting coffee lovers from all over town, Blackstar has grown from strength to strength in the last decade, its most recent achievement being hole-in-the-wall cafe Small Axe at The Stores in West End. more
