Lloyd’s General Store

Lloyd’s General Store on Brunswick Street is a cosy corner bar that triples as a coffee spot by day and a providore hawking top-quality pantry fillers. Offering a quieter alternative to the bustle of Fortitude Valley’s nightlife precinct and King Street’s hospitality strip, Lloyd’s has been purposefully configured to evoke the feeling of getting home, with raw materials and upcycled furnishings creating a lived-in feel. During the day Lloyd’s General Store slings freshly brewed coffee from Allpress Espresso, freshly baked croissants lathered with goats cheese and a dollop of strawberry jam, sourdough toast, nourishing salads, and toasties. At night, the offering changes to include mixed olives, pate and terrines served with toasted baguette, and platters piled with gourmet cheeses and charcuterie. Various salads and a rotating meal of the day are also available, with farm-to-table ingredients sourced from the bar’s own farm in Ipswich. Lloyd’s stocks an assortment of artisanal goodies including coffee beans, sauces, lentils, black barley, crackers, balsamic vinegar and sardines, while portions of the bar’s cheeses and meats can be purchased for take-home consumption. The short wine list favours organic and biodynamic wines, with drops available by the glass and by bottle. Brews are contributed by the likes of Yeronga’s Slipstream Brewing Co., Maleny’s Brouhaha Brewery and beachy outfits Balter Brewing Co. and Black Hops Brewery. Gin from Tasmanian distiller Dasher + Fisher and Scottish single-malt whisky from Wolfburn are perfect for those seeking a stiffer sip, while sodas from Crows Nest Soft Drinks are suited to those keeping things neat.
