Got a thing for silk? Same here. Lucky for us, local label Silk Laundry is fuelling the desire with its collection of quality (and just quietly, pretty amazing) silk basics. Filled with creations by owner and local Katie Rackley, the range promotes the versatility of quality silk, with each piece designed to stand the test of time.

The carefully curated line was originally designed to meet the demands of Katie Rackley’s own wardrobe, with the first piece – the classic 90s slip dress – remaining in the range as its signature piece. The range has been created with the concept of delivering quality over quantity, with limited production runs of styles resulting in a unique collection of essentials that should really be viewed as investment pieces with endless possibilities. The Silk Laundry team create the impressive silky magic from their headquarters in the pristine Tallebudgera Valley hinterland – they run on rain water, let the chickens roam free on the property and passionately recycle all materials from the facility.

Whilst the colours change throughout the year, Silk Laundry’s key pieces remain the same with new colour palettes and patterns released intermittently. As if the slip dresses weren’t fabulous enough, the collection also features silk shirts and camisoles, sleepwear, neck ties and pillow cases. The bottoms include silk shorts, drawstring pants and some pretty spectacular wide-leg silk pants. The team at Sean Scott in Burleigh Heads are on the Silk Laundry bandwagon, so you can check out a selection of the range in James Street, or jump online.
