Alfred’s Apartment has become a one-stop-shop for the discerning gent with a barber, boutique retail store and diner all in one convenient Mermaid Beach location.
Fed up with consistently seeing the same thing in every store, brothers Kris, Danny and Matt conceived an idea for a retail store that focused on the experience of the customer rather than just the transaction. The result is Alfred’s Apartment, an institution for local gents looking for fresh threads, decent coffee and a quality haircut.
Alfred’s Apartment stocks a carefully curated range of limited or hard to get brands including its own exclusive label of functional basics that is designed by the guys and inspired by 1960s surf. The range is screen printed locally and uses all local talent where possible.
The store aims to deliver a truly unique retail experience for customers and stocks wears from local and emerging labels including Surf/Brand and Yorke alongside more established brands including Vanishing Elephant, Vues, Brixton, RVCA, Just Another Fisherman, Carhartt, The Horse, Epokhe, Uppercut Deluxe and Status Anxiety to name a few.
Ultimately, Alfred’s Apartment is about authenticity, soul, substance and a sense of fun. And it seems it may run in the blood for Kris, Danny and Matt, their father is legendary surfer Paul Neilsen, former owner of surf wear goliath Brothers Neilsen.
