Ever since we got our first taste of dessert dispensary Yo-Chi Frozen Yoghurt back in 2022, we’ve been obsessed. And we’re not the only ones, with a line regularly reaching the roadside at its outposts in Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and most recently, Robina. The latest addition to the brand’s rapid expansion strategy is a sunny spot in James Street Burleigh Heads – here’s everything you need to know …

In excellent news for beach dwellers, Burleigh Heads has welcomed the Gold Coast’s fifth Yo-Chi in the space formerly occupied by Doughnut Time. By now, it’s pretty likely that you’re already well acquainted with Yo-Chi and its customisable creations, but for those who aren’t, it goes like this – first, you choose whether you’re in a cone or cup kinda mood. Then, it’s time to choose your base. Yo-Chi’s range of natural-tasting 98-percent fat-free probiotic yoghurts are made fresh daily and are available in a mouth-watering array of flavours. There are a handful of core flavours that are available all year round, including its Signature Tart, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and salted butterscotch. There’s also a scattering of seasonal selections – such as the overwhelmingly popular mango which has made its way into Burleigh’s rotating line-up – that utilise fresh, in-season fruit for its natural flavour. Vegan and dairy-free friends, you aren’t left out in the cold – there’s also a coconut base that’s made with organic coconut cream.

From there, it’s a choose-your-own-adventure. The array of toppings at the buffet bar meanders from mini M&M’s, mochi, Biscoff spread, fudge brownie and Nutella through to fresh fruit, strawberry fruit pearls and zesty passionfruit and lemon curd. But wait, that’s not all – at Yo-Chi, there’s also a limited-edition toppings. Finish your fro-yo with a squeeze of sauce, or don’t, it’s entirely up to you. But before you get too carried away with all of the toppings, you should know that it’s pay-by-weight so you might want to cool your jets. We’ve got a sneaking suspicion that this one is going to be busy so you might want to get in early!

Yo-Chi Burleigh Heads is now open.
