Feast on gourmet hotdogs from The Wiener Haus

Cruising from carparks to cafes around the Gold Coast, mobile food vendor The Wiener Haus is upping the ante on the humble hotdog and cooking-up a serious following in the process.

With selections including Linda Lovelace, Magnum P.I. and Something About Mary, it’s clear the lads behind The Wiener Haus have a good sense of humour. Not when it comes to wieners though, the gents take their bratwurst very seriously. A far cry from standard supermarket snags, The Wiener Haus dogs are made with authentic German smoked sausages in a delectable range of flavours including traditional grilled bratwurst, spicy kransky, cheese kransky or vegan bratwurst. Your bratwurst of choice is then laid in between a freshly baked bun and topped with New York street food-style toppings such as beans, sour cream, guacamole and jalapenos (that’s the Something About Mary, in case you were wondering), or pineapple, bacon and tasty cheese. There are four delicious combinations to choose from, each one offers a carefully curated medley of flavours that are sure to satisfy. For a lighter option, you can enjoy your dog sans the bun and have it deconstructed on a plate. After the first bite it becomes abundantly clear that one trip to The Wiener Haus will simply not suffice and you resolve that you’ll be back to try the rest.

Owners Paddy and Jesse (the mastermind behind local coffee house, Skull & Bones Espresso Boutique) go to great lengths to source their produce as locally as possible. The crispy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside white rolls are baked fresh daily, even the grandma-style relish is produced locally.

Stalk their movements on social media to get your wiener fix however you will generally find the gents at one of their usual haunts, Bob Jane T-Marts in Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Social on alternating Sundays, Amart Sports in Bundall or Kwik Kopy in Southport. The Wiener Haus is also available for private functions.
