Head south for top-notch salumi and sips at Honour Brunswick Heads
About a year ago, a newcomer took up residence in a prime position in Brunswick Heads. On a bustling corner in town overlooking the river, Honour Espresso and Salumi Bar quickly became a crowd favourite, serving up top-notch coffee and eats all day. Its new wine and salumi evening menu is receiving rave reviews from locals and travellers alike, who can’t get enough of the bistro’s thoughtful fare.
In a move that’s ensured that almost all of the good things in life are being served up at Honour, the daytime deli and cafe has introduced its nighttime offering as a natural wine and salumi bar. With an impressive selection of nibbles from near and far, the choice is yours whether you stop in for a quick taste or choose to linger for dinner. An impressive wine list plus a rotating selection of natural wines by the glass is on offer each week, which are paired with the small bites of your choice – think plates including smoked hummus with cruditès from Mullum Farmers Market, Bangalow Farm carrots with labne, orange, chilli and lardo, and very good pickles. There’s also a selection of cheese and crackers, salumi (of course) and conservas – tins of delectable European seafood which are served with baguette, lemon and pickles.
Although we recommend setting aside some time in the evening to enjoy Honour’s wine bar, if you’re just ducking south of the border to explore the Northern Rivers neighbourhood for a day you’re still in luck. With a menu dependant on local and seasonal produce, Honour’s brunch and lunch offering is ever-changing but always fresh and delicious – think local heirloom tomatoes with a taste that exceeds anything you can find at the shops, wild line-caught fish and local honeycomb. Sit back and savour the local produce at one of the only places in Bruns (as the locals affectionately call it) with a glass of vino. If you’d prefer to grab a tinnie and a plate of delectable bites to be enjoyed by the river, you’re in luck. A lineup of Queensland sours and pale ales from nearby breweries (including Black Hops and Currumbin Valley Brewery) means that although it might be casual, your takeaway tipple will still be top-notch.
Honour is open for brunch and lunch from Thursday to Monday each week, with its natural wine and salumi bar opening from Fridays to Sundays.
