Eat ribs and sip cocktails at Hickory on Tamborine Mountain

Churning out insatiably tender ribs slathered with sticky Mama Spec’s secret sauce and top-notch tipple, Hickory is Tamborine Mountain’s newest watering hole and grill house.

If toasties loaded with pastrami, double smoked ham and pickles, meat cooked low and slow and artisan cheese boards tickle your fancy, Hickory is right up your alley. Dedicated to slow meats and fine beverages, the new venue is the collective brainchild of a bunch of young, local entrepreneurs and has been created as a place people can congregate over a drink and some hearty, fuss-free comfort food. Forget fancy, at Hickory, the eats are reflective of the kind of casual environ the owners have created and offers small bites to pick at through to hefty racks of dry spice rubbed ribs.

The booze list is equally as enticing and offers Fortitude Golden Ale and Noisy Minor Ginger Beer on tap alongside bottled brews and top-shelf liquor. If a cheeky cocktail is on the cards, try the Ginger Pirate; a refreshing (and potent) concoction of Hickory barrel rum, Sailor Jerry, a splash of cloudy apple and topped with boozy ginger beer and lime.
